My Story

Born in Puerto Rico and raised throughout the Caribbean, David began his professional career in the hospitality industry and held a successful decade across various management roles in multiple markets across the Americas.

In 2008, David began consulting for BACARDI USA and led the implementation of marketing programs for BACARDI Rum including education, and its first ever bartender competition, BACARDI Legacy. Shortly after, David joined the company internally to work closer with the Master Blenders and Brand teams in product development, playing a crucial role in the liquid development and brand design of The FACUNDO Rum Collection, The Single Cane Estates Collection, HAVANA CLUB USA, and MAJOR LAZER Limited Edition amongst others. His final achievement at Bacardi Limited was the revamping of the multibillion-dollar BACARDI RUM brand, and the creation of BACARDI Añejo 4, BACARDI Gran Reserva 10, and BACARDI Grand Reserva Especial 16.

David has been frequently featured in the media and has appeared on 60 Minutes by CBS, FORBES, BAR RESCUE (Paramount), Univision, CNN Radio, Tele-Madrid, and many others. He has served as Guest Editor for CHILLED Magazine (2016) and has been a frequent lecturer at Universities in the US and Europe.

David currently serves on the Board of the STEPUP Foundation, a non-profit focused on driving diversity in the spirits industry through internship opportunities for the underrepresented. He is a co-founder and the strategic lead of the Silver Sun Group, LLC, as well as, the founder of Masters of Cane Spirits LLC.
